It was a great experience as we concluded our trip with two days in Key West. Go to dinner at The Fish House for the best seafood in the Keys especially Yellowtail snapper in lemon sauce. Between Lochloosa Creek and present Hawthorne they fell into the old trading path and encamped for the night at Halfway Pond Cowpen Lake as before, returning next day to the Lower Store.

Highly recommended. We decided it was safer to ride in the bike lane rather than crossing the road in most cases exceptions being the Long Bridge and Old Dixie Highway. However, everyone should consider the wind conditions, especially when riding over the 7 mile bridge.
The old bridge—located parallel to the new Seven-Mile Highway 1 Bridge—no longer crosses the entire distance between Marathon and the Lower Keys, but the remaining portion is open for bike and foot traffic to Pigeon Key, a small island also accessible by a ferry from Marathon with a museum telling the history of the East Coast Railway.
